learning without walls

About Us

idaisnetworks was founded by Kevin Archer in early 2008, with the launch of a website he created to offer tailored study support for students of English at Bradford Grammar School. The school still had a couple of classrooms in which you could find a dais ("a raised platform, as in a lecture hall - for speakers or honoured guests.")

The name idais embodies our goal: to enrich student learning by combining proven educational content, and methods, with the collaborative possibilities of the internet.

Podcasts, videos, and lesson notes steadily built a classroom outside the school. Over the following months, we moved beyond simple remote learning to the exciting new world of online interaction and collaboration and a significant expansion and enrichment of the learning experience.

Kevin began his teaching career in 1978 and has taught English in seven secondary schools.

He has been a Head of Year and served on the Leadership Team of two schools. He was Assistant Head of a large Leeds comprehensive with responsibility for raising achievement. In this role he developed target-setting and reporting systems, literacy initiatives and the new Gifted & Talented programme.

After 30 years in education, he is developing teaching programmes and fostering partnerships designed to enhance and enrich students' educational experience both within and beyond the classroom.

He is married with two sons, and lives with his wife and cat in Saltaire, West Yorkshire,  a World Heritage Site.
